Behind the Crab Shack

Babs, Jenny, Jake, Zoe and I ate at the Crab Shack restaurant in Salterpath several times when we were at the beach last fall.  One evening I saw a sea gull sitting on a couple of pilings wrapped with lots of lines and thought that might be fun to paint.  I took this picture through the widow overlooking Bogue Sound for a reference.  I knew if I included the boat and marina in the picture I would go down the "too much detail" rabbit hole, so I decide to just focus on the gull, pilings and lines.  I also cropped a slightly narrower than normal painting to make use of a red oak and jatoba frame I had made a while back (I had miss-measured the rails and made it too narrow for a typical quarter sheet watercolor.)  It is available framed for $300.
