Who I AmI am originally from Indiana but have lived I Durham, North Carolina for over 40 years and now consider Durham home. I have recently retired after 27 years in pharmaceutical product development. Prior to that I was a registered pharmacist working at the Duke University Medical Center. I am an avid outdoors person enjoying fishing, hiking and golf. I have long standing, but until recently, dormant interests in woodworking and art.

Wood Be Retired's HistoryAs retirement neared, I began thinking about what I would do besides play golf and fish. I had long been interested in wood working, building small items for my home. I slowly acquired equipment to flesh out my workshop with tools I “needed” and began making more complex items, casual furniture and custom inlayed picture frames. About the same time, I finally decided to take on a long held desire to learn to paint with watercolors. I began taking lessons from Barbara Rohde through the Durham Arts Council and over several years have developed and improved my skills.
But now with “nothing but time” to pursue these endeavors, and as all woodworkers and watercolorists experience, I discovered there is only so much room in your own home for the end products of your efforts! I began selling my products to the public through Wood Be Retired in 2013. |
